You are the owner of a sporting complex which is currently in need of repair.
All your sporting facilities need to be resurfaced. This will mean you need to
do all the costing for this.
PART 1: Tennis Courts
You have 5 tennis courts which all need to be redone with the Rebound Ace surface.
a) Use the internet to find the dimensions of a tennis court; print out and attach your
findings.
b) Each tennis court is surrounded by a 4 metre wide border. Draw a diagram of one
standard tennis court and its border to a scale of your choice.
c) Calculate the total surface area of 5 tennis courts including their 4 metre wide borders.
Two adjoining courts will have 8 meters between the two courts.
d) Rebound Ace surface costs $15.25 per square metre. Calculate the costs of resurfacing.
(You need to show all your working and calculations)

standard basketball court and its border to a scale of your choice.
c) Calculate the total surface area of the 2 basketball courts including their 5 metre wide
borders. There will be 10 meters between the two courts.
d) The special wood flooring costs $70.50 per square metre. Calculate the costs of
resurfacing.

PART 3: AFL Oval

You have 1 circular AFL oval with a diameter of 145m which needs to be resurfaced with turf
and a new barrier fence will be constructed 2 meters from the edge of the field. A diagram of the
AFL oval can be seen below.
a) Calculate the area of turf in square metres. Turf will cover the oval and its boundary.
b) Calculate the length of boundary fence required.
c) The turf costs $5.70 per square metre and fencing costs $2.40 per metre. Calculate the
cost of resurfacing and fencing the AFL oval?
(You need to show all your working and calculations)
