Issue Description: 30.1.34 scanner failure on the control panel or 30.01.34 in the Event
Log.
Solution or Workaround:
Follow these steps for troubleshooting:
1. Power cycle the MFP some scanner failures are just a temporary loss of
communication. Try cycling power and see if the error goes away.
2. Check HDD cables and reseat the formatter power down the mfp and remove the
network cable. Remove the formatter and verify the HDD cables are properly seated at
each end. Reinstall the formatter and power on without the network connected. If the
error reappears, dispatch a tech.
3. Reconnect the network if the error comes back when the network cable is
connected, network traffic may be causing the error. Weve verified at least one case of
30.1.34 due to network traffic.
Steps for the tech onsite:
1. Check the FFC at the SCB the white flat flexible cable (FFC) can become loose if
the MFP is moved. Remove the SCB cover on the rear of the scanner and reseat the
FFC.
If the MFP has been serviced recently, inspect the connector for damage.

2. Replace parts if the above steps dont solve the problem, change parts in the
following order:

HDD
SCB
Formatter
Connecting pca assembly

RM1-2995-000CN

Background Information: The 30.1.34 error is often due to a loose cable or

formatter after moving the MFP. The customer can attempt to reseat the formatter
and HDD cables, but reseating the flat flexible connector at the SCB requires a
tech onsite. If reseating doesnt solve the issue, consider network traffic before
replacing parts.
