Variants & Versions: Patrick Herons Portraits of T.S. Eliot
Speaker Dr Nuzhat Bukhari (St Edmund Hall, Oxford)

Between 1947 and 1950, Patrick Heron, one of the greatest British painters of the
Twentieth Century made fourteen portraits of TS Eliot. Nuzhat Bukharis lecture explores
the implications of these portraits (recently exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery,
London) for Eliot scholarship. One of the paintings (permanently housed at Kent University)
will be present during the lecture. The others will be shown on screen.
