Our staff is continuing to further embed our schools professional learning journey during 2015. The
central practices underpinning this journey include an intense focus on targeted learning, collaboration
amongst teachers at each level, as well as the close tracking of students to ensure their successful progression.
Our school operates with professional learning teams, whose planning meetings now exclusively focus on four
critical questions:

What is it we expect our students to learn?

How will we know when they have learned it?
How will we respond when they dont learn?
How will we respond when they already know it?

This year we are exploring approaches in the areas of Mathematics, Personalised Learning, Inquiry
Based Learning and consolidating our Oral Language Continuum. We will have four trained staff in the Nadia
Walker approach to teaching Mathematics by the end of term 3. Our focus is transforming many of our
practices across the school, and this year will provide us with valuable time to continue this important work.

Our whole school will be attending a musical performance Shine a

Light on Thursday 20th August. Please note that the performance starts
at 9:00 so make sure youre here on time. At the moment some of the
songs from the musical are being played before the bell and are being
enjoyed by all. Also some of the books focused on in the performance are
being experienced in the classrooms.

The dinosaurs and the fire

Long ago in the past there were some dinosaurs.
They were very peaceful in their land. Suddenly a
bad wizard came and he had a pet dragon! The pet
dragon caused a fire. The fire spread! The dinosaurs
ran away from the fire. The baby dinosaurs tried to
run as fast as they could. Suddenly a log fell down off the hill! The baby dinosaurs could
not run any further. Luckily their mum and dad saw them trapped against the log. The
babies could not move forwards because they were stuck. Luckily their mum and dad
got their just in time!

Time travelling dinosaurs

Once upon a time there was an Allosaurus who set out on the
very first day of summer. He met a Tyrannosaurus Rex! This isnt
right a Tyrannosaurus Res in the Jurassic Period? How could
that happen? Hey mate said the Allosaurus. How are you
going? Good thanks said the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The next
night the Allosaurus went into an unusual place. In that place he found a time machine.
It looked weird. Very weird! He tried it out and he tries to take the Tyrannosaurus Rex
back to the Jurassic period. It worked! They all lived happily ever after.

Boys Netball
Girls Football
On Wednesday the12th of August the boys netball team were walking to Truemans
Road oval.
The A team drew their first game while the B team lost
their first game.
After another 5 rounds of netball came finals.
The top six teams from each league played finals.
The A team came 6th and played finals but sadly lost [3-10]
while B team came 8th and just didnt play finals.
After hearing the results we left but we all had an amazing time.
Thank you to Miss Quintin, Louise & Mr Kitchin

On Wednesday the 12th of August 4, 5 & 6 girls played football at Boneo Primary School. With confidence and
strength we played against Rosebud Sharks, all of the girls played tough and went on strong and even though
we lost we were proud. Our next game against Fatima was tough and we lost but made new friends along
the way. Next we played Sorrento, at half time we swapped positions, playing tough and kicking goals, we
were in the lead but at full time Sorrento had two more goals than we did. Our last match was against St
Josephs, tackling their way to victory. St Josephs ended up winning the day. Even though we lost all of our
games we ended up leaving with smiles on our faces.
Thank you to Miss Withers and Mr King and to all of the parents who stayed to watch our games.
