Parents were asked how well they believed their students were at, in relation to
the topics presented in a Naplan test, before the Naplan test. With 10 being the
highest mark to be achieved and one being the lowest.

When parents were asked whether Naplan

improved their students results 91% agreed
that Naplan did not improve their childs
abilities, and further stated that Naplan was
not an accurate assessment tool.

My School
When Parents were asked about the site My
School there was a mixed response, with some
parents knowing about the site and having
accessed prior to the survey.
When the parents did discover what my school is
used for and how Naplan links to school funding,
the general consensus was that the government
places so much pressure on the school, teachers
and students, just to make sure money is getting
given to the school. (Parent Interview - Parent 5)

Who creates Naplan every year?

Out of the five parents surveyed, not one
of them knew confidently who was
responsible for creating the Naplan tests.
With one survey stating Whoever it is,
obviously doesnt have a position teaching
students this therefore displaying their
reluctance to complete the Naplan every
year.

Naplan vs Report Cards

Through out many of the surveys some
parents believed Naplan was a good
representation of their Childs' abilities and
then some parents disagreed.
One thing many parents could agree on
was that they held report cards done by
the teacher higher than that of a 2 yearly
test.

Student Nerves.
When asked about their children's reactions to the experience of Naplan, a huge
94% of the parents surveyed stated that their child experienced minor to large
amounts of stress and concern due to how hard the schools push for a high
Naplan result.

Conclusion Naplan may be seen as something beneficial to

student success and the development of the
students abilities, however it can be seen that
many of the parents agree that Naplan can be
beneficial but has its negatives.
When asked if the parents trust Naplan over the
teacher in the classroom, all parents stated that
they trust the teacher more than a standardised
test completed every two years. Along side
trusting report cards more than that of this test.
