TEACHER SURVEY
RESULTS

Diverse Learners?
Five teachers were surveyed and each survey returned results
that displayed an array of students with many different learning
needs. These learning needs being that of :

English as a second language

Indigenous Australians
Intellectual or other learning difficulties

Many of the teachers that responded also did not know much
about the exclusion of students (i.e. students did not have to sit
the test).

Hours spent preparing for Naplan

Each teacher was asked about how much preparation they did with their
students for Naplan, with many saying they complete at least 2-5 hours a week
on preparation. One teacher stated that they would allow a week with no
preparation for Naplan due to the pressure and stress placed on students from
the test that they needed to allow a week off.

each topic was and how much they focused on this topic prior to the Naplan test.

Naplan results
95% of teachers that were surveyed agreed that Naplan does not represent the
students progress for an array of reasons, the most prominent being the stress
that is placed on the students.
These same teachers then further agreed that there is pressure placed on
themselves to achieve a good Naplan result from the school.

Conclusion
Throughout these surveys it can be seen
that a lot of time from the normal school
schedule is replaced with a large amount
of preparation for that of Naplan.
This is due to the large amount of pressure
that the schools place on teachers and
students alike to receive a good Naplan
result.
