Hi! My name is Mrs. Kohls and I am going to be your first grade teacher!

This will be
my 8 year teaching at Avery Parsons Elementary School and the 15th year of my
teaching career. I love first grade and all the leaps and bounds children make!

I have a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Mathematics. I

attended graduate school to receive my professional teaching license at California State
University, Northridge. In addition, I hold a Masters Degree in Educational Media Design
and Technology. I cant wait to share my love of Math and Technology with you!
I grew up in Fremont, California, which is considered part of the Bay Area and
Silicon Valley in Northern California and then traveled south for college. I lived in Los
Angeles for 13 years before moving to Colorado. I still have family in California and am
anxious to visit soon.
I live with my husband, Mr. Kohls, a high school teacher, our daughter Sophie, a
first grader, my step-son Alex, Rocco our Maltese, Lucy our new Chocolate Lab, Mouse
our grey tabby and Boo, our black cat. Its always an adventure in our house! This
summer my oldest step-son, Nate, was married and so now we have new daughter-inlaw in the family.
I love to travel and was fortunate to be awarded the 2014 Rural Global Teacher
Fellowship. I spent 14 days in Singapore learning, sightseeing, visiting schools, meeting
students and teachers and having a great time! I still keep in touch with some of the
teachers.
I cant wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you!
