Important!Message!from!the!Board!of!Trustees!!
At!the!board!meeting!on!Monday!night!we!discussed!the!ongoing!
concerns!of!traffic!on!Sheppard!Place!and!the!safety!of!our!tamariki!
and!whnau.!Sheppard!Place!traffic!is!a!significant!concern!for!the!
board!and!school.!Every!day!we!see!incidences!of!illegal!parking,!
unsafe!driving!and!disrespect!of!school!rules!and!staff.!We!implore!
our!school!community!NOT!to!drive!into!Sheppard!Place.!Please!
take!the!time!to!park!further!away!from!school!and!either!walk!the!
loop!into!Sheppard!Place!or!use!the!crossing!on!Trafalgar!Street.!The!
board!has!made!the!decision!to!publish!photos!of!illegal!or!unsafe!
vehicle!behaviour!on!Sheppard!Place!to!highlight!the!importance!of!
our!traffic!safety!message.!

On!Tuesday!morning!after!our!discussion!about!traffic!safety!we!had!
a!serious!incident!on!the!Sheppard!Place!driveway!into!school.!A!
child!was!hit!by!a!vehicle!backing!out!of!the!driveway.!Fortunately!
the!child!was!not!seriously!hurt,!but!as!you!can!understand!this!is!
exactly!the!scenario!that!the!board!has!been!trying!to!
prevent.!
!!

We!want!to!keep!our!tamariki!safe.!Please!adhere!to!the!
school!rules!and!transport!regulations.!Next!time!the!
outcome!may!not!be!as!fortunate.!

2016!Enrolments!
Enrolment!at!this!school!is!governed!by!an!enrolment!scheme,!details!of!which!are!
available!from!our!schools!office.!With!the!school!roll!continuing!to!grow!it!is!imperative!
that!we!have!the!names!of!any!siblings!of!current!pupils!who!may!now!reside!outside!
the!school!zone!before!we!make!decisions!regarding!our!ballot!for!the!next!eighteen!

months.!If!this!is!you!please!make!contact!with!the!school!by!Friday!21 !August.!!

Illness!Hits!Again!
Once!again!we!are!experiencing!a!significant!amount!of!student!and!staff!illness.!Many!of!
our!key!relievers!are!feeling!like!permanent!members!of!staff!due!to!the!number!of!
teachers!requiring!sick!leave.!Please!be!on!the!look!out!for!temperatures,!aches,!pains!
and!vomiting!bugs.!So!many!different!bugs!are!flying!through!classrooms.!Thank!you!to!
those!parents!who!are!keeping!children!at!home!to!reduce!the!infection!of!others.!
