ADELTA ‘Thomas J. Bach Deita Air Lines, Inc. Senior Vice President Post Office Box 20706 Revenue Management Atlanta, Georgia 30321-6001 February 18, 2010 Mr. Patrick S. Graham Mr. William W. Hubbard Mr. Joseph Marinelli Mr. Bill Miles Savannah Airport Commission 400 Airways Avenue Savannah, GA 31408 Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter requesting a clarification on several points in our previous correspondence. As you know, our letter dated January 25 addressed your concerns regarding customers driving to neighboring Savannah airports for lower airfares to points beyond Atlanta. Since more than 90 percent of our Savannah customers on our flights to Atlanta make connections to beyond destinations, this was the primary focus of our initial correspondence and Delta's subsequent reduction in fares to a significant number of Savannah's connecting destinations, Regarding your question on the price of travel between Savannah and Atlanta, current round-trip prices are approximately $500 for itineraries without at least a two-night minimum stay and $250 for longer, multi-night stays. These prices are very much in line with other markets of similar distance on Delta and other network carriers and reflect the substantial investments we have made in creating a worldwide network. ‘That said, we greatly value our relationship with the Savannah community and appreciate the chance to continue dialogue on these types of issues. To respond to your concerns, we are implementing 2 trial fare that would reduce business-oriented airfares between Savannah and Atlanta by as much as 40 percent for the next four months. The success of these reduced fares will depend on an increase in traffic that can offset the reduction in price. If local Savannah-to-Atlanta traffic volumes do not increase during this period or there is significant erosion in revenues, we would not be able to extend the trial and would need to make adjustments to these fares. During this period, Savannah travelers will be able to find seven-day advance purchase fares that have been reduced from $510 to $300 roundtrip and walk-up fares that have been reduced from $656 to $400 roundtrip. While these prices will not be available for every seat on every flight, these fares will be widely available to our Savannah business customers. Delta is proud of our nearly 70-year history in Savannah and we hope our actions address your concerns and speak to our continued commitment to your community. We appreciate your interest and direct communication on this matter and look forward to discussing the results of our newly discounted business fares in the coming months. siocerey, ay ‘SAVANNAH AIRPORT COMMISSION Pabesferh ACLU ; FEB 25 2010 |i’ wor
