Cost of reactor

From table 6.2 from Coulson and Richardsons Chemical Engineering, Vol 6, the cost could be
calculated as such :
Ce = CSn
Ce = purchased equipment cost
C = cost constant from Table 6.2
S = characteristics size parameter, units given in Table 6.2
n = index for that type of equipment
Since we are using CSTR for our process, thus we are looking into the
reactors (jacketed, agitated)
column,
0.40
Ce = $15,000 x ( 0.094767m3
)

= $5, 844.59

Capital cost in pounds sterling

C = 150,000 N (Q/s).0.30
for production below 60 000 tonnes per year
kg
day
kg
200 day
x 365 year
= 73,000 year
= 73.0 tonne
year

s=

massofdesiredoutput
massofreactorinput

s = 94.767kgperday
200kgperday = 0.4738

Number of functional units : anaerobic digester, CSTR ; N = 2

Thus, C = 150,000 x 2 x (

73.0
0.4738

)0.30

= 1,359,689.04 pounds sterling

= 8,655,713.12 MYR
