METHOD STATEMENT FOR INSTALLATION OF TRUNKING

1.0

OBJECTIVE
To define the methods and controls employed to ensure that the overall work of the
installation of trunking for Client is carried out in a controlled and systematic
manner that in all respects shall conform to the specified requirements.

Installation of metal trunking for slab installation and on the wall installations for
electrical cables for Client.

Client Requirement

HANDLING AND STORAGE


4.1

Materials at site shall be stored at designated area and shall be properly


protected from rain or water seepage.

4.2

Materials shall be stored without direct contact with the ground and shall
be placed on timbers, bricks or pallets to prevent materials from contact to
water on the ground, should there be any.

5.0

WORK METHODOLOGY
5.1

The metal trunking shall be installed so as not to effect the building structural
soundness.

5.2

The edge of the metal trunking shall be made smooth by sand paper etc.

5.3

All bends of the trunking shall not exceed an angle 45 degrees. In the case
of trunking needing to be bend at an angle of 90 degrees, two number of 45
degrees shall be installed.

5.4

The metal trunking shall be supported at every 2m and near a setting (up
and down) of the trunking.

5.5

A short length of copper tape is installed at every metal trunking joint to


ensure earth continuity at all times.

5.6

The metal trunking is installed in a way so as to ensure that the routing of


the trunking is either parallel of perpendicular to the building line. The metal
trunking shall be installed in a way so as to ensure that the routing is always
straight.

5.7

The supporting bracket for the trunking, threaded rod and drop-in anchor
shall be installed and fastened firmly on the slab.

5.8

Pieces of conduits, wood, etc is put across the internal wall of the trunking
after the cable have been installed. When the trunking cover is open for
inspection, trouble shooting etc, the cable in the trunking would not fall out.

INSPECTION AND TESTING


6.1

Carry out visual inspection as detailed in Visual Inspection Report Of Cable
