Hole Feature Enhancements


Overview
This demo script will outline the steps required to demonstrate Crossfire Hole feature
enhancements.

Demo Steps

Open the file: Hole_Feature.ipt.

Invoke the Hole feature


Note to users the revised dialog, including;
o Placement Options
o Revised preview area with RVECs (real value edit controls)
o Revised hole type selection, with new Clearance hole option - Mouse over icons to show
Simple, Tapped and Clearance tool tips

Use the Linear placement option (default) to place two holes on the machined face of the
rectangular boss to match the existing holes
o The holes should be m6x1 tapped holes with a 6mm countersink and a depth of 10mm
o Use the Apply button between each feature to demonstrate the streamlined workflow

Use the Concentric placement option to place three holes of the same size on the three small,
machined flanges
o Note to users that holes may be placed concentric to a circular edge or a cylindrical face
-demonstrate both methods
o Use the Apply button between each feature

Turn on visibility for Work Axis 3


Use the On Point placement option to place a single hole of the same size on Work Point 3,
with Work Axis 3 selected to define the direction of the hole.
o Note to users that planes, axis and edges may be selected to define hole direction
o Note to demonstrator: the direction of the hole may need to be flipped

Use the On Point placement option again to place two Clearance holes on Work Points 1 &
2 (located on the large flanges). Select he faces on which the points lie to define the hole
direction.
o Specify Loose fit clearance holes with counterbores for 6mm Ansi Metric Hex Head
Cap Screws
o Use the Apply button between each feature
o Note to users that the data for Clearance holes is stored in the Clearance.xls
spreadsheet in the Design Data folder

Edit one of the Hole features


o Note to users that tolerances may now be assigned from the RVECs in the preview area
