Crocheted Swing Ruffles Vest

Yarn: Starbella by Premier Yarns (100% acrylic; 33
yards/30 meters; 3.5 ounces/100 grams)
15-02 Autumn 8 (9, 10, 12, 13) balls
Crochet Hook: US P-15 (10mm) and J-10 (6mm) or size
to obtain gauge
Extras: Yarn needle

Gauge
6 dc and 5 rows = 4" with larger hook and yarn held
closed. Use any size hook necessary to obtain specified
gauge.

crochet; dc2tog double crochet 2 stitches together;
mm millimeter; rem remaining; rep repeat; RS
right side; sc single crochet; sl st slip stitch; st(s)

instructions after asterisk as specified.

SPECIAL STITCH
Dc2tog (double crochet 2 stitches together): [Yo, insert
hook in next st and draw up a lp, yo and pull through 2
lps on hook] twice, yo and pull through rem 3 lps on hook
(1 dc dec).
VEST
Back: With larger hook and yarn held closed (like a tape
yarn), ch 31 (34, 37, 40, 43).
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across 28
(31, 34, 37, 40) dc.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc, here and throughout), dc in
each dc across. Rep Row 2 until piece measures 7".
Next Row (RS): Ch 3, dc2tog, dc across to last 2 sts,
dc2tog 26 (29, 32, 35, 38) dc. Work even in dc until
piece measures 13 (13, 14, 14, 15)", ending with a WS
row.
Shape ArmholesNext Row (RS): Sl st in next 2 (3, 4, 5,
6) dc, ch 3, dc across to last 2 (3, 4, 5, 6) sts, turn, leaving
rem dc unworked 22 (23, 24, 25, 26) dc. Work even in
dc until armholes measure 8 (8, 9, 9, 10)". Fasten off.
Left Front: With larger hook and yarn held closed (like a
tape yarn), ch 17 (18, 20, 21, 23).
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across 14
(15, 17, 18, 20) dc.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc, here and throughout), dc in
each dc across. Rep row 2 until piece measures 7".
Next (dec) row (RS): Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in each dc to end
13 (14, 16, 17, 19) dc. Work even in dc until piece

Shape Neck and ArmholeNext Row (RS): Sl st in next
2 (3, 4, 5, 6) dc, ch 3, dc to last 2 sts, dc2tog (neck edge).
Working even in dc, dec 1 dc at neck edge every row until
6 (6, 7, 7, 7) sts rem. Work even in dc until armhole
measures same as back. Fasten off.
Right Front: Work as for left front, reversing all shaping.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Sew side seams.
Edging: With larger hook and yarn held closed, work 1
rnd of sc around armholes and outside edges of vest,
working 3 sc in each corner; join with a sl st in first sc;
fasten off.
Ruffle: With RS facing and smaller hook, working with
yarn open and in loops across the top of yarn, join yarn
to center front. Work in sl st, inserting hook through
every 3rd opening in the mesh, pulling the edge of the
mesh through the st on the hook, for 4 rows around front
and neck edges or until desired ruffle fullness is desired.
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
