Writing Guidelines
- Powerful and realistic performance of your
historical character
You will write and perform a scene from the point of view of characters
from a historical situation.
1) You will choose a historical situation and collect information from either
an online or print source. Examples can include the sinking of the Titanic, the
Wild West, World War II, etc. Find one article that gives you information
about a person or people connected to your situation. You will underline five
facts in the article that you will incorporate into your writing. A hard copy
of this article (printed or photocopied) will be handed in along with your
monologue.
2) Using the Guidelines for Writing Scenes, you
will improvise, write and perform a 5 (ish) minutes scene that shows your
characters AT A CRISIS POINT. It can be funny or serious, but it should
be REALISTIC.
3) You will add costumes, props, music etc and prepare a FULLY
MEMORIZED performance of your scene.
4) You should take this opportunity to really show how you can use all the
skills you have developed in this class (and the skills you had BEFORE you
took this class), and above all, enjoy yourself! Life is too short not to.
