Research Environment
The University of San Carlos Talamban Campus was the locale of the study.
The University of San Carlos Talamban Campus has four major colleges; the
College of Engineering, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Architecture and
Fine Arts, and the College of Health Care Professions. This campus is located in Nasipit,
Talamban Cebu City. The campus holds the biggest library in terms of structure in the
whole Philippines. The College of Engineering have 5undergraduate programs offered
namely: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil
Engineering, and the Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Research Participants
The study focuses only on the Mechanical Engineering freshmen. They are
composed of 7 blocks namely: BSME-A, BSME-B, BSME-LP A,BSME-LP B,PRE-ME
A, PRE-ME B, and PRE-ME C. There are 25 participants which were chosen randomly
on each block. 25 of them answered the 25 questionnaires which was provided by the
researchers. Their answers determines the output of this research.
Research Procedures
Gathering of Data. The study utilized the purposive sampling procedure. The
selected 25 participants were asked to answer the questionnaire which were provided by
the researchers. They were asked to put a check mark on what is their grade on their EM

111(Algebra) and EM112x(Trigonometry). They were also asked on what the difficulties
theyve encountered are and the possible solutions to the problem.
Treatment of Data. The information gotten from the participants answers in the
first problem were tallied and presented in tabular form showing the frequency, summary
and the over-all rank of their Mid-Term grades on EM111(Algebra) and
EM112x(Trigonometry). The data was then analyzed. On the third problem, the data was
tallied and analyzed. This data was also presented in tabular form where frequency and
percentage would be shown. The same procedure was done on the fourth problem, the
data was tallied and presented into tabular form where frequency and percentage would
be shown
