    PrimeMinisterNarendraModiislikelytoinauguratethesummit."Thisisforthefirsttimeweare
    organisingroadshowsinIndiaaswellasoverseastoattractinvestorcommunityinthesummit.The
    maritimesectorhasimmenseinvestmentpotential,"saidaseniorgovernmentofficial.
    TheministryofshippinghasaskedtheInlandWaterwaysAuthority,ShippingCorporationofIndiaand
    allportstopreparealistofinvestableprojectsintheirareas.Itisexpectedthatover100detailedprojects
    wouldbeoffered,wherethereareinvestmentopportunitiessuchasportleddevelopmentunderthe
    Sagarmalaprojectandshipbuildingunderthe'MakeinIndia'scheme.Besides,investmentislikelytobe
    soughtininlandwaterways,coastalandcruiseshipping,specialisedcargohandlingandport
    mechanisation,etc.
    The12thFiveYearPlanhasestimatedatotalinvestmentofRs1,80,626crore($30.05billion)inthe
    portssector.Indiahas12majorand187notifiednonmajorswithportsontheeastandwestcoastofthe
    country.
    "Weareexpectingparticipationfromstatemaritimeboards,globalparticipation,maritimefraternityin
    India,etc.Weareexpectingover2,000delegatesinthesummit.Wewouldalsohaveonepartnercountry
    forthesummit,"saidanotherofficial.Hefurtheraddedthattheministryisworkingwithalltheindustry
    chamberstoreachouttothewideraudience.
    Seniorofficialmaintainedthatthemaritimesectorisonthetopmostagendaofthegovernmentto
    promotebilateraltieswithothercountries.India'sassistancetoIrantodeveloptheChabaharport,coastal
    shippingagreementwithBangladesh,signingofapactwithKoreainmaritimetransportandinitiating
    containerservicefromIndiatoMyanmararesomeofdevelopmentsinthisrespect.
