Question:
Is it possible to place field welds in the Plant model for correct depiction in Isogen
Isometrics?
Answer:
Often it will be required to show Field Welds on the Final Isometrics; this is easily achieved
by placing a standard 3mm Weld gap from the Spec View palette or toolbar and then
changing the BOM Item Type to Erection or Misc.

Using this method the piping shortens the piping component and all the welds then need to
be edited with the correct BOM Item Type, this may not be wanted.

A more productive alternative will be to place the Field Welds directly from the Spec View
palette where they are required.
Adding a zero length weld gap is easily added to the specification by making the thickness
0.0 and then setting the BOM Item type in the Specification.

Once the Spec is saved it will be available from the Spec View palette.

Running the isometric will produce the desired results every time.
