IL. ETYMOLOGY
"kalan-banga", two guardia civil who were lost found a girl carrying a kalan ban
ga (clay stove, water pot) and asked her what the name of the place is but the g
irl thought they were asking her what she was carrying; hence she said kalan ban
ga and the guardia civil, being stupid tongue-tied jerks mispronounced it as "ca
lamba"
IIT. RIVER?
"sah juan" and "san cristobal" river, san juan is worse than class D acc to LUDA
which cant be used for agri and stuff, san cristobal also bypasses cabuyao. bot
h rivers are major tributaries of laguna de bay
although the rivers arent well known and not useful to calamba's community, it i
s rich with hotsprings that come fron mt. makiling--makiling is not a mountain b
ut a dormant volcano, hence the hotsprings. pansol, calamba city is known for it
s resorts most of which generate fresh hotspring water frm mt makiling
IV. EARLY SETTLEMENT
eldest part of calamba is baranggay sucol, then the spaniards came and it became
a part of tabuco (now cabuyao city)
