Comprehensions

Toms dad took Tom fishing with him. Tom felt very excited.
They arrived at the fishing lake and set up their fishing rods.
Suddenly, Tom saw a big fish. Then, he felt the fish tugging on
his rod. He pulled it in and landed it. His dad said, Wow, well
done, Tom! You are a natural! Tom looked at the fish. It was
wriggling about and gasping. He picked it up and took the hook
out of its throat. Then, he threw it back in the lake and it swam
away. Dad, I felt sorry for the fish, Tom said. I dont like
fishing after all. Its cruel! Then he asked his dad if they could
go home.

Jonathon was a fat boy, no denying that. Also, his
long hair and chubby face made him look girlish. So,
at school, some students bullied him. They were very
cruel. Jonathon was often hurt and upset and cried
about his situation. He was very shy and didnt really
mix with the other students. He loved singing and he
used to sing as a hobby. But because he sang opera
and not pop music, his school mates didnt really
want to listen. Then he made a friend, a really nice
girl called Charlotte. One day, their singing teacher
sent their names in to a talent competition Britains
Got Talent. Jonathon was very nervous and shook
like a leaf. When the judges and the audience saw
Jonathon, many of them laughed. Look at that fat
boy! they thought. Nobody expected very much
from him. Then, he sang. They were very surprised
and they stood up and applauded. The judges advised
him to dump Charlotte, but he refused. Friendship is
more important to me than success he said.
