IN MODERN SERBIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY
Summary
The book by Constantine the Philosopher, Life of Despot Stefan Lazarevi, is
a highly important source from the 15th century for the study of the late medieval period in Serbian history. In its unique style, somewhat different from the
usual genre of itija it is considered the first secular biography of a Serbian ruler.
As such, it is an indispensable source for our historians who deal with the medieval period. Their interpretation of this significant book i very important, particularly regarding the political and cultural heritage of the medieval Serbian state,
with antique and byzantine influences in the text encompassed.
