SYMONS DISC CRUSHER

Stages of Size Reduction
In order to achieve successful size reduction, every lump or
particle must be broken down by contact with other particles or
with the moving parts of the machine. However, as the average
particle size decreases, the number of particles increases therefore
requiring more contacts for unit mass. Hence a solid has to
undergo stages of size reduction.

The
disc

crusher shown in the figure above is being classified as an

intermediate size crusher. This class covers machines that will take
indefinitely coarse feeds or produce materials that will pass

through 200 mesh.

The symons disc crusher employs two saucer-shaped discs
mounted on
horizontal shafts, one of which is rotated and the other is mounted
in an eccentric bearing so that the two crushing faces continuously
approach and recede.
The material is fed into the centre between the two discs, and the
product is discharged by centrifugal action as soon as it is fine
enough to escape through the opening between the faces.
Products:

Coal

Wood chips

Iron ore
