To whom it may concern:

As the Director of Chapter Operations for Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity I have worked with Matthew Tallent for
over nine months. Within my role on the International Headquarters staff I interact with Matthew on a
regular basis to provide coaching on chapter operations. As the President of his chapter, Matthew is
responsible for communicating with multiple University and Headquarters staff, as well as leading over
thirty members of the chapter. As a former chapter President myself, I know how difficult it is to serve in
the role, while still striving to perform well academically.
I provide coaching to dozens of Presidents within the organization and I consider Matthew among the upper
echelon. When faced with difficult changes, Matthew time and time again finds a way to succeed. His
ability to take coaching via phone or in person, and then implement the advice into tangible results is one of
his strengths. Additionally, when Matthew disagrees with the advice I provide him, he constructively and
tactfully communicates his concerns. If he is still asked to complete a task the same way he will do so to the
best of his abilities, even if he does not fully agree.
I have coached dozens of members within the organization, and Matthew has been one that I have
consistently enjoyed working with. I highly recommend him the position he is applying because of his
ability to achieve goals and overall coachability.
Sincerely,

Patrick Spanner
Director of Chapter Operations
Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity
