Surface installation

Surface installation
You will need:

48" x 124" high pressure laminate (HPL) surface

Recommendation: Wilsonart Frosty White 1573-60

2" wide double-sided thin film adhesive tape

Recommendation: 3M Scotch carpet tape

Wide masking tape

Laser level

Level or straight edge

Steps:
1. Prepare the surface
Unroll the HPL on a flat surface and allow it to rest for 48 hours before installation. On the front
of the surface, place a small mark at the top to indicate the centerline

2. Apply adhesive
Apply four pieces of adhesive around the perimeter of the surface and four horizontal pieces
spaced evenly across the length of the surface. Gently cut a line through the center of the
adhesive backing. Avoid cutting into the HPL
3. Determine surface placement
Use the laser level to create a line approximately one inch above the projected image. Find and
mark the center of the projected image with a pencil. Have two people hold the surface up to
the wall and align the center of the surface with the center of the projected image. Ensure the
surface is aligned with the laser line. Use the wide masking tape along the top and bottom
edges to temporarily attach the surface to the wall.
4. Adhere the surface to the wall
a. Have one person move to the middle of the surface and hold it securely against the wall
using a level or straight edge along the centerline.
b. Have the second person remove the masking tape on the right side and pull the surface away
from the wall so the third person can peel the adhesive release liner off the back of the surface.
c. With the center held securely, and the right edge held a few inches away from the wall, start
smoothing the surface against the wall starting at the center and working towards the edge. To
prevent air bubbles, move your hands in a sweeping motion starting at the middle and going
out towards the top and bottom of the surface as you move towards the edge.
d. Repeat the process on the left side of the surface.
