Workers for the Harvest

THE NEED TO TEACH:

1. Matt 9:35- 38 “…The harvest truly is plentiful but the laborers are few.
Therefore pray the Lord of harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
2. Matt 7:21-23 “…Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many
wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you;
depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”
3. Mark 1:38 “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also,
because for this purpose I have come forth.”
a. We need purpose to direct our focus, energies, and time. It is possible
to discern Jesus’ purpose based on what He filled His time with. Based
on how we spend our time, what is our purpose?
4. Luke 15:4-7 Parable of the Lost Sheep. “…go after the one which is lost until
he finds it?” and “…There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who
repents…”
5. Acts 18:24-28 “…Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and
explained to him the way of God more accurately….”
6. The example of Jesus’ compassion:
a. Matt 9:10-13 “…Those who are well have no need of a physician, but
those who are sick. But go and learn what this means; I desire mercy
and not sacrifice, For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners,
to repentance.”
b. Matt 14:14 “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and
He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.”
7. Rom 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power
of God to salvation for everyone who believes…”
8. 1 Tim 2:3-4 “…who desires all men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth.”
9. Ezekiel 33:7-9 A watchman’s duty to warn the lost

SOME CHALLENGES OF TEACHING

1. Matt 13:57 “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in
his own house.”
2. Matthew 15:8-9 “These people draw near to Me with their mouth. And honor
Me with their lips,. But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship
Me, teaching as doctrine the commandments of men.” Many have grown up
on false teachings believing them to be the truth.
3. 1 Tim 4:12 “Let no one despise your youth…”
