    POLICIES

    I.Leadership

    i.Becomingaleader

    Cabinetpositionsinclude:OrchestraManager,RehearsalManager,
    CommunicationManager,andLibrarians.Thesepositionsareappointedbythe
    directorandstudentsarerequiredtoenrollinbothsemestersoforchestraand
    attendatrainingcampinAugust.

    Otherleaderpositionsinclude:SectionLeaders,AssistantLibrarians,Stage
    Managers,andtheSocialCommittee.Studentsmustapplyforthesepositions
    throughanapplication.

    ii.Maintainingposition

    Leadershipismaintainedbyfulfillingresponsibilitiesandexpectationslistedon
    theLeadershipResponsibilitieschart.

    iii.Disciplinarymeasures

    Whenleadersfailtomeetexpectations,actionwillbetakeninthefollowing
    steps:
    1. Reminder
    Areminderletteroftheexpectationswillbesenttotheleaderof
    concern,anditwillincludewithhowhe/shehasneglectedhis/her
    responsibilitiesandwillaccountthedateandtimeofthe
    misconduct.
    2. Probation
    Theleaderofconcernthenwillenteraperiodwherehis/her
    actionsandperformancewillbeobservedcarefullytomakesure
    his/hermisconductwillnothappenagain.
    3. Conference
    Ifsuchmisconductcontinuesafterprobation,aconferencewillbe
    heldincludingtheleaderofconcern,theotherappointedcabinet
    member(s),andthedirector.Thisconferencewilldetermineifthe
    leaderofconcernisfittokeephis/herleadershipposition.This
    actionwillbedocumentedonpaper.

    iv.Leadershipnotebook

    Leadershipnotebookswillcompriseofallthenecessarydocumentation,
    information,andtipsonperformingtheresponsibilitiesandtipsofeach
    leadershipposition.Thesewillbepassedontoincomingleaders.


    II.Assignments

    i.SmartMusicandFinale

    Themajorityofhomework,practiceassignments,quizzes,andtestswillbedone
    viaSmartMusicandFinalemusicnotationsoftware.

    III.SheetMusic

    i.Nooriginalmusicshouldbedistributedtomembersasidefromsightreadingpurposes
    duringrehearsal.
    ii.Personalcopiesofmusicshouldbekeptinablackbinder.
    iii.Nosheetmusicshouldbeleftonstandorintheroom.

    IV.OrchestraNotebook

    Orchestranotebookswillcontainthemusicselectionsneededforclassesandrehearsal
    andwillincludethefollowingitems:
    i.WarmUps
    1.scales
    2.chorales
    3.sightreadingexercises
    ii.ClassroomRepertoire
    iii.ConcertRepertoire
    iv.Graduation&SpecialEventRepertoire
    v.HolidayRepertoire
    Notebookswillbeassignedtoeachstandandwillnotleavetheclassroom.Studentswill
    beresponsibleforturningnotebooksineveryday.
