Myself on Modern Psychological Perspectives
Psychodynamic
I have a desire to be excellent in a particular skill so that I would be able touch other peoples lives.
In a psychodynamic perspective this could e explained by the fact that when I was a child I
regularly watched anime, cartoons, and superhero movies. This may have given my subconscious
the desire to train and get better everyday just like the protagonists in the said media to be able to
make a difference.
Behavioral
Ever since I was a kid I was congratulated by my parents and relatives for trying new things and
joining activities. The behavioral approach could explain why even though I wont be congratulated
or praised by anyone, I find it rewarding when I try out new things out of my comfort zone.
Humanistic
Im a learning advocate, a lot of things that Ive been doing passionately are things I just started
doing in college. Ina humanistic perspective this could be explained because of my belief in human
potential and my realization that as people we are to improve and grow everyday to be able to live
better lives.
Cognitive
I tend to calculate in terms of units(may it be time, money, %chance) half of the things I do
everyday. I was raised by a family of engineers so I was trained to be good at math and this added
a perspective in my mind of how I analyze most of the things I do in a normal basis.
Sociocultural
It has been my habit to budget my money for the coming months and take into account what will be
my priorities financially. This could be explained by my social and cultural background, I grew up in
a middle class family where we are taught to save up and manage things for the future. My family
is of Ilocano descent, very famous for their kuripot attitude on money.
Biopsychological
There are just some days when my ability to pick up things is so fast that I dont need to put
conscious effort into learning. In a biopsychological perspective this instances could be explained
when ghrelin a hormone produced in the stomach which is said to increase brain activity on certain
conditions is abundant in my system.
Evolutionary
My desire to be on top and be competent on everything that I did ever since I started going to
school until 3rd year high school could be explained by the evolutionary perspective. If we were to
follow the darwinian theory of natural selection, the desire to be on top to reap out the benefits and
be able to survive would explain my past behavior.
