OTSEGO ELEMENTARY EXTRA

August 28, 2015

Our Students, Our Community, Our Success
OFF TO A GREAT
We had a great beginning to this school year! So many
families attended our Open House and Picnic in the
Parking Lot sponsored by the PTO. Thank you to all the
families that attended.
This first week was filled with so much excitement from
students, staff and parents. The students spent most of
the days learning and practicing daily procedures while
learning about classmates and teachers.
Also, we are excited that all fourth and fifth grade
students now have Chromebooks, allowing other grades
additional use of the classroom sets. Our school
continues to increase the use of technology to enhance
student learning.
We are looking forward to the preschool and
kindergarten students joining us on Monday!

STAY CONNECTED
I encourage families to stay connected with your
childs classroom and school. Many teachers have a
website where you can find answers for many
questions. Also, those of you using social media,
Twitter is a popular venue we use showcasing what
students are doing in school. On the last page of
this newsletter you will find several Twitter handles
you can follow.

Positive School-Wide Incentives

Tootles & Royal Recognitions! This year we are focusing
on good, positive behaviors! Students K-2 can receive
Tootle Notes and students 3-5 can receive Royal
Recognitions. These are written notes to compliment or
point out positive behavior. They can come from
teachers or peers.

What is PAX?
All teachers K-2 are trained in PAX. PAX is a research and
evidence-based program, which teaches students selfregulation, self-control, and self-management in context
of collaborating with others for peace, productivity,
productivity, health, and happiness. For more
information or a better understanding of PAX visit:
