1. A PowerPoint will be shown containing an introduction of the teacher, the


content of the class, and the rules and expectations.
2. As a class, we will talk about what we think about the word technology
and give examples. Students will use their prior knowledge and scaffold from
it.
3. We will then watch the video "What is Technology?" located
at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Giiz81_uzK8.
4. The students will complete a graphic organizer on the white board with the
teacher. On this graphic organizer, the students will fill in different
technologies that they have used.
5. As a class, we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages (good and bad
things) of the technologies that we named.
6. The teacher will then lead a discussion about the internet and what the
students think it is.
7. We will then watch the video "What is the Internet?" located
at http://planetnutshell.com/project/netsafe-episode-1-what-is-the-internetgrades-k-3/
8. As an exit ticket the students will have to tell me one thing that they
learned about technology or the internet. They will also be asked to recall
what rules we discussed.

The teacher will ask the students to use their prior knowledge and identify
what they think that internet safety is, they will discuss this with an elbow
partner before sharing out with the class.

3. Finally, we will discuss the video and identify the four major rules of
internet safety.

2. As a class, we will watch a digital story and take a verbal quiz about internet
safety located at: http://www.abcya.com/cyber_five_internet_safety.htm
3. After, we will play the interactive internet safety game Webonauts Internet
Academy located at pbskids.org/webonauts.
1. The teacher and students will read the objectives for the day together.
2. The teacher will ask the students if any of them can tell how we should
treat/handle our technology. After the students identify that it should be treated
with care, I will call on volunteers to show the class the right and wrong ways
to handle our technology.
3. The students will then come up by group to retrieve a RT tablet. Students
will be told to write down and try to memorize their assigned tablet number!
4. The teacher will show the students how to turn the RT on, how to log on,
how to adjust the volume, identify that they are online, how to get to the
internet, how to enter a web address, where important keys are located, etc.
using the RT hooked up to the projector.
5. Students will practice logging on to the RT and getting to a website.

6. As an exit ticket, the teacher will verbally quiz the students by asking
locations of the power button, address bar, volume, enter key, space bar, etc.

1. The teacher and students will read the objectives for the day together.
2.The teacher will introduce/review the parts of a computer using the video
located at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gkd2QOWKAI
3. Students will review with the teacher the parts of a computer.
4. After the review, the students will retrieve an RT.
5. The teacher will introduce the students to simple troubleshooting. How to
turn the volume up and down, what to do if it doesnt go to the correct website,
what to do if the mouse or keyboard doesnt work, etc.
6. Students will continue practicing to log on and begin practicing trouble
shooting as problems arise.
7. Students will also continue to practice getting on websites.
8. Finally, students will be shown how to exit all programs and shut the
equipment off.

The students will then take a computer parts and internet safety verbal
assessment. The teacher will also be checking to see that the students can logon independently AND navigate to a website independently.
3. While the other students are waiting, they are to be practicing logging on
and getting to ABCYA.com independently.
