Stereotypes
• Complete the grid on your own at first.
– Read the statements and decide whether they
are true / false / don’t know.
– Compare answers with a partner
– Class feedback.

• What different types of teenagers are represented


in the media?

• Are they realistic? (Do you feel represented?)

• Read the information on series 1 of Skins.
Can we add any new “labels” or types to
our list?

• Extract from Series 3 – Responses in pairs


- Are the characters and storylines
representative of teenagers? Discuss
specific examples.

• Read the different reviews of the series
and prepare 3 points to feedback to the
class, and selecting at least 2 or 3
quotations to discuss with the class.

• Come up with a list of “realistic” issues or


plotlines which you feel might be more
representative of your own age group.
• Can you predict any issues for production
companies?
