EXPERIMENT 2: REFLECTION
1st Activity: Reflecting Light
Materials:
Laser
Plane mirror with stand
Diagram
Marker
Protractor
Ruler
Procedure:
1. Place the mirror on the line marked
Plane Mirror so that the back of
the mirror is on the line.
2. Direct the laser, one at a time,
along each line. Make sure that the
light is directed at the point where
the normal and the angle of
incident meet.
3. Observe the reflected light. Trace
the reflected ray using a marker
and a ruler as accurately as
possible in each case.

4. Measure the angles of incidence

and reflection in each case. Record
the values on the table provided.
2nd activity: Scattered or not
Materials:
Aluminum Foil
Laser
Scissors
Procedure:
1. Cut a 12 inch length from the
aluminum foil roll. Be careful to keep
the surface of the foil smooth.
2. Lay the foil on a flat surface, such as
a table or tile floor.
3. Look at the lasers ray of light
reflection on the shiny side of the
foil. Observe. Write your
observations on the table provided.
4. Scrunch and wrinkle the foil again
until the surface is no longer smooth.
Repeat step 3.
