Notes from Janice

Our Handbell Choir will resume rehearsals on September 2, 2015 at 6:00 PM. We will have new
music to begin the new season! Come, join us and learn to play handbells!
The Chancel Choir rehearsals also begin on September 2, 2015 after handbells at 7:00 PM. We
will be preparing new anthems and starting soon to brush up our Christmas cantata planned for
last year. It gives us time to make it even better! (I don't intend to get sick this year!) If you would
enjoy singing with our cantata and weren't there for last year's preparation, it's not too late to take
part! Come, sing with us. Choir is a wonderful experience. Just come and visit!
The Cherub Choir will begin rehearsals in September at 9:45 AM on Sundays. We will be learning
new songs from our Sunday School curriculum.

All the Music sung and played here is a gift, O God, from you.
For as long as we have prayed here, we've been blessed by music, too.
By your Spirit, each musician finds new depths of faith to share.
Music is a gift you've given and becomes our thankful prayer.
(Carolyn Winfrey Gillette in Songs of Grace)

Crop Walk to be held Sunday, October 18

The Annual Crop Walk for Church
World Services is being sponsored this
year by the Inter-Church Council. It will
take place October 18, 2015, starting at
Frist Baptist Church and ending at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
CWS has worked for nearly seven
decades with one goal: building a world
where there is enough for all. Crop Walk
helps to fight hunger and poverty as
well as promoting peace and justice. CWS helps to build safe schools, access clean water, develop
sustainable energy solutions, and rebuild villages after earthquakes. One fourth of the monies
raised will go to local charities in our area. Come take a walk with us and help those who live in
poverty and are hungry.

Supreme. Supremely. Supremely Good.
What images come to your mind when you think about
the word supreme?
Join us as we listen to and explore our September stories. Like a Hidden Picture feature from a Highlight
magazine, we will look for Gods adventure for us within the pages of a book.
See you on the rug and bring a friend!

Mrs. Babbs

Only You
This story is told by a young
bear to his mother
expressing her importance in
his life. It is a beautiful and
loving story. A good story for
moms or grandmoms to read
to the little ones.

Savannah and Amanda Gunter had the wonderful
experience of attending the June You & Me session at Camp Grier! Savannah was able to traverse the rope bridge without falling, enjoy Rock
Slide, learn to canoe and zip line! She faced her

Finance/Administrative/Property Committee
As summer is winding down and fall approaches, it is time to prayerfully engage in one of the fundamental callings
of every Christian, stewardship. Later in the fall, you will have the opportunity to present to God your pledge not
just your financial gift but the gift of your time and talents. For now, lets start with prayer, the type of prayer where
we listen for the voice of God and discern our call to serve God through stewardship.
As far as a year-to-date financial update, our income is currently below budget. We are staying out of trouble because our expenses are likewise below budget. We still owe over $18,000.00 on our new organ.
From the property side, several projects are in process (or have been recently completed) to provide a safer campus
for all of us. Contrasting stripes have been placed on the front steps, a front door security camera will be installed,
repairs are underway to repair a leak in the basement of the Fellowship Hall, and the floor has been leveled at the
piano in the Sanctuary. So dont forget about the building fund in your financial gifts.

Medium size churches have a great advantage when it comes to welcoming people the key is to major
on our strengths. Without the wow factor-of larger churches - our major pull as a medium size church
is relational be personable, friendly, get people connected and theyll stay with us.
More food for thought,
Carl
