Construction

Quarry Blocks and

Mined Metals
The Egyptians took stones
and metals from nearby
quarries and transported
them to the pyramid sites.
They would then make the
stone into blocks and
move them onto the
pyramids through ramps
or lifts. Blocks ranged
from 1 ton to over 100
tons.

The Egyptian
Pyramids
One of the most well-
known, ancient marvels
of the world is the
Pyramids. The Egyptians
used advanced
mathematical skills and
engineering In order to
design these massive
structures. They also
contributed in
astronomy, medicine,
astrology, and
architecture.

How did it improve their

society?
With the construction of the
pyramids, the Egyptians
accomplished a marvel unlike
any other at the time. The
mathematical skills used to
design and construct the
pyramids proved useful to the
Egyptians later on. The
architecture skills learned from
the pyramids also proved
useful to other Egyptian
structures.

How it influences us
today?
The Egyptians method for
building the pyramids continued
to be used throughout the rest
of the world. Their
mathematical skills that were
used to build the pyramids were
also used by future generations
in construction of bridges,
obelisks, and other architectural
wonders. We continue to take
ideas originally developed by
the Egyptians and apply them to
our engineering wonders.
