879 HOTS: LABOR DAY JOB FAIR


The Department of Labor and Employment-Cordillera Administrative Region did not only surpass the 15% Office
Performance Commitment Review target but exceeds and achieve twice of the target on placement rate during the
Labor Day Jobs Fair at the Baguio Convention Center and SM Baguio City.
A total of 879 out of 2,683 qualified applicants were Hired-on-the-Spot and is equivalent to 32.76 percent placement
rate in various positions for local and overseas employment in one day Jobs Fair last May 1. The DOLE reported a
total of 827 jobseekers for local employment and 52 applicants for overseas employment were hired on the spot.
A total of 7,156 registrants attended the activity, applying for some 10,714 job vacancies for both and local and
overseas employments.
DOLE-CAR also monitored some 6,713 interviewed applicants; 3,699 were sent for further interview and 2,838 were
first referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Administration for further training.
Director Jalbuena also expressed his satisfaction over the result of the jobs fair. He said that the success of the
Labor Day Jobs fair activity is through the efforts of the various agencies. He also recognized the active participation
of their partners especially the city government of Baguio through PESO and HRMO and their partner agencies,
TESDA, POEA, OWWA, ECC, DPWH, PEZA, SM City of Baguio, ABS-CBN, PLDT and SMART Communications.
The job fair was participated by 62 local employers and 12 recruitment agencies for overseas.
