Statistics refresher course 2015

Introduction
All research masters programs of the WJGS offer compulsory courses on
statistics. Most students pass these courses without problems, but some
pass only after a huge investment of effort, as they seem to lack the
expected background knowledge.
As a service to you, we therefore set up a short remedial course. The course
consists of six lectures and an exit test. The lectures will be given over the
course of two weeks.
Not all students will need this remedial course.
Entry test Refresh course Exit test
To determine whether you might benefit from the remedial course, there is
an obligatory entry test of 20 4-alternative forced choice questions covering
basic statistical issues, such as t-tests, correlation, power, and effect size.
You will do this test on the morning of August 25 during max 1 hour. When
you answer 17 questions or more correctly, your statistical knowledge is up
to par, and you can go home. If your score is in the range of 14 16 correct,
you may decide for yourself whether or not to join the refresh course. If your
score is below 14 correct answers, you are strongly advised to join the
refresh course. In that case you are required to take the exit test on
September 16 (from which you are exempted otherwise).
