Welcome letter to Year 3 Students and Parents for Back

to School.
2015 / 2016
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Manor House British School. My name is Mrs. Gihan
Wahbi Im the class teacher of Year 3. Im delighted to welcome
you to a new school year! I hope you and your child have
enjoyed a pleasant summer break and are feeling refreshed and
ready to begin school.
I am Egyptian- Canadian and I have experience in teaching both
in Canada and in Egypt. This is my second year at Manor House
School. Its my pleasure and honour to work here.
I feel that my greatest contribution so far in education has been
serving my students to the best of my ability and being an
advocate for their education. It is my belief that a childs success
is based on a cooperative parent / teacher relationship. I
look forward to working with you throughout the year.
Thank you for entrusting your child to me.
We, as a staff, are very excited about this new beginning and
wanted to share some important information with you.
Please carefully read below:
Uniform: Students are required to wear a uniform.
Absence: When your child will be absent from school, please
contact the school.
Expectations: I expect from your child the following 3 Rs
1- Respect.
2- Responsibility.
3- Reliability.
I also expect Good Manners.
Year 3 is a big transformation from years 1 & 2 Your child
will experience new methods of learning and will develop
in a critical thinker.

The importance of the planner: Its a booklet which goes


home everyday with your child. Its the link between the school
and home. School announcements and homework will be
written in it. Please make sure to check it on a daily basis. Also if
you or the teacher have any remarks they will be written down.
Plan for the first ten days of school:
Our first day of school will be Tuesday September 1 st.2015. I will
introduce myself to my students and get acquainted with them.
We will play ice breaking games.
We will start revision of English, Maths and introduction to
Science and Social Studies.
Classroom Supplies:
I kindly request the following list of supplies to be sent with your
child, they will be needed throughout the academic year:
Pencils Erasers Sharpeners glue stick ruler
and a pencil
case.
(all previous items labeled with your childs
name)
Five A4 plastic envelop folders.
One folder with a zipper.
4 folders with plastic sleeves.
4 photos
A small white board with whiteboard markers and
an eraser.
4 copy books for English 80 papers for each, (all
copy books are covered with transparent cover
and labeled with your childs name)

2 copybooks large squares for Math 80 papers


for each, covered with blue and labeled. One
graph copy book. Protractor, scissors and play
dough.
1 copybook for Science 80 papers , covered with
yellow and labeled.
1 copybook for Social Studies 80 papers, covered
with red and labeled.
Wooden colouring pencils (labeled with your
childs name)
Tissue box for the classs use.
Kindly send with your child wet wipes for his/ her
use in order to promote healthy hygiene.
A pack of A4 papers.
Blue tack.
Board markers.
Highlighters.
Arabic List:
5 copybooks for Arabic & Religion covered with
transparent cover and labeled with your childs name.
French List:
2 copybooks double line, blue cover.
1 Plastic file.
1 display file, 50 sheets.
Snack and lunch:

Please provide enough food daily in your childs lunch


box for snack and lunchtime. This should be nutritious
food. The school does not allow the children to eat candy
or drink cans of soda.
