Popich, Joe February 18, 2010
You were provided a copy of this policy in the district's coaching handbook and you were
present at the pre-season coaches meeting on November 3, 2009 where you were informed that
you were responsible for the information contained therein. You were informed on February 9,
2010 that the district was intending to take action to terminate your coaching position for
violation of district policies and procedures regardless of your stated intent to not violate district
policy.
In your February 10, 2010 letter you requested a hearing related to the district’s intent to dismiss
you from your position. Accordingly, the Superintendent's office will schedule a pre-
termination hearing for you to present your statement to the Superintendent's designee. You will
receive notice of the heating from the Superintendent's office. We note, for the record, that your
February 10, 2010 letter states that you “never gave medicine, medication, pills, vitamins,
minerals, supplements or anything ...” which is contrary to your original statement that you
provided to Mrs. Horton and me. In the meantime, you are instructed to abide by the instructions
outlined in my February 2, 2010 letter to not contact in any manner students, their parents,
employees of the district or witnesses while this matter in under review.
Sincerely,
fgeat
