Unsafe conditions and procedures must be identified before they can be corrected.
Consequently, every employee shall be responsible for immediately reporting unsafe
conditions or procedures. Safety is an individual commitment to incorporate safe
work practices into every area of job operations. The following rules are
establishedforallCountyemployees:
(a) Report all jobrelated injuries, accidents, and illness and near miss
situationstoyourimmediatesupervisorassoonaspossible.
(b) Neverdoanythingthatisunsafeinordertogetajobdone.
(c) Usethehandrailsonstepsandotherelevatedareas.
Alwaysinspecttoolsandotherequipmentbeforeuse.Reportdefectstosupervisorandotherpotential
users.Donotusedefectiveequipmentortools.
Obeywarningsignsandtags.Theyarepostedtopointouthazards.
Neverremoveordisableanysafetydevice
Reporttoworkinappropriateclothingsuitableforthetypeofworkperformed.
Maintaingoodhousekeepingpracticesinallworkareas.
Workingundertheinfluenceofalcoholorillegaldrugsorusingthematworkisprohibited.
Firearmsorexplosivesareprohibitedatwork.
Horseplay,runningandfightingareprohibited.

Donotcarryloads,whichobstructyourview,whicharetooheavyorwithout
apreparedplacetosetthemdown.
Gethelptomoveheavyobjects.
Approachblindareascautiously.
Knowlocationofemergencyexitsandkeepaislescleartothem.
Assureallelectricalequipmentisdisconnectedbeforeworkingonit.

Asidefromtheaccidentpreventionbenefits,goodhousekeepingcontributesto efficientperformance.When
tools,equipmentandmaterialsarereturnedtotheproperplaceafteruse,theyareeasiertofindandinspect
fordamageandwear.Thefollowingsuggestionsareofferedforgoodhousekeeping.
(a) Wipeupspillsandpickupallobjectsthatshouldnotbeonfloor.
(b) Keepworkareasandstoragefacilitiesclean,neatandorderly.
(c) Allaisles,stairways,exitsandaccesswaysshouldbekeptclear.
(d) Donotplacesuppliesontopoflockers,boxesorothermovablecontainersataheightnotvisiblefrom
thefloor.
(e) Whenpilingmaterialsforstorage,makesurethebaseislevelandfirm.
(f) Layextensioncordsandhosesinsuchawayastominimizetrippingorobstructionstotraffic.
(g) Sharporpointedobjectsshouldbestoredtopreventpersonsfromcomingincontactwiththem.
(h) Allpackingmaterialshouldbedisposedofimmediately.
