Her mother told her, This makes you special, Bootsy!
Bootsy didnt think so, and neither did the other cats in the neighborhood. They teased Bootsy.
One day, Bootsy noticed a new cat sitting under her favorite tree.
Hi, Im Bootsy. Whats your name? she said cautiously.
The fluffy white cat didnt answer. It didnt even turn towards her!
Bootsy started to slink away sadly when another white cat came over.
Im Fluff, and this is my daughter, Button. She cant hear you. She is deaf, but she can read your lips!
Fluff tapped Button on the shoulder. Button turned towards Bootsy.
She had one blue eye and one green eye. Do you want to play with me? Bootsy asked.
Button nodded and smiled.
You dont care that I have too many toes? Bootsy asked, surprised.
Button shook her head and said, No way! Its our differences that make us special.
