Pistol Markmanship Fundamentals and Weapon Safety Rules

GOALS:
1a. Students will be comfortable handling a weapon.
2a. Possess the ability to apply the skills they learned to qualify and pass a test
with thier weapon of choice.
3a. Understand and maintain the knowledge of how to apply Four Weapon
Safety Rules.
4a. How to succeefully dissaesble and reasemble a weapon and properly
function check a weapon after cleaning it.
OBJECTIVES:
GOAL 1a:
18 to 22 years of age
High school graduates
Graduates of U.S. Navy Boot Camp
The student will be able to recognize procedures for safe handling and
employment of all small arms weapon handling.
Critical thinking skills will be used to manage this objective. Students will
apply this skill during training for their military police job requirements. These
skills consist of applying use of force, judgment, decision making and complex
problem solving.
Real weapons will be used during training, live magazines will be used for the
proper weapons, students will utilize hands on training. The course of learning
will be instructor-led.
Instructional technologies used will be computers, student guide books,
instructor-led traning, a gym set up to teach hands on shooting training and a
(FATS) Fire Arm Training Simulator.

GOAL 2a:

18 to 22 years of age
High school graduates
Graduates of U.S. Navy Boot Camp
Each student will take and pass a written test before proceeding to the gun
range for live fire weapon qualification. They will also take a test at the end the
course over all weapons discussed in this course.
To achive this goals objective all students will learn collaboratively. They will
each learn the same information in order to pass the same tests. This
information they learn is important for them all to learn the same information to
be allowed to head into live training with weapons.
To obtain this goal the students will use computers, instructor-led training and
student guide books.
GOAL 3a:
18 to 22 years of age
High school graduates
Graduates of U.S. Navy Boot Camp
Students must be able to state the four universal weapon safety rules upon
request of the instructor. They must know how to apply all of them at all times.
All students will learn these again using the collaborative learning method
along with critical thinking skills.
Instructional technologies to be used to achieve this goal is the student guide,
computers and instructor-led training. These will all assist students in obtaining
and completing this goal.
GOAL 4a:
18 to 22 years of age
High school graduates
Graduates of U.S. Navy Boot Camp
Students will learn to disassemble, inspect, clean, reassemble and function
check each weapon discussed in the course.
This goal will be instructor-led based training with a mix of hands on training.

To achive the objective of this goal critical thinking skills will be necessary to
keep everyone safe.
