1. Discuss briefly about the errors in offset.


2. A chain line AB is to be chained across an inaccessible land and building which just
intervenes to prevent chaining and ranging both. Chaining around is, however, possible.
Explain how you do propose to solve the problem.
3. A river flowing from west to east. For determining the width of river, two points A and B
are selected on the southern bank such that the distance AB = 100m. Point A is
westwards. The bearings at a tree C on the northern bank are observed to be 40 and
340, respectively from A and B. Calculate the width of the river.
4. The bearings of the sides of a traverse ABCD are as follows. Compute the interior angles
of the traverse.

b. Also convert the bearing from Quandrantal system to WCB system and find the
True bearings. Magnetic declination 5W.
