5-Day Itinerary: Basel to Geneva

with FREE Airport Lounge Pass in Geneva

Day 1 Arrive Basel

Start off in Basel, where historic landmarks include the market square with its richly decorated red sandstone Town Hall and the late
Romanesque Gothic cathedral. Stroll through the old town to browse charming boutiques, antique book stores, and shops of contemporary
designers. A visit to the "Lckerli Huus" to taste traditional Basel honey cake is well worth your while. Home to 40 museums, Basel has the
highest concentration of museums in the Switzerland.

Day 2 Basel Lausanne

In the morning, proceed to Chaux-de-Fonds (drive distance: 1.5 hrs), a historic UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the international watch museum Musee
International de lHorlogerie, housing over 4,500 exhibits, including 2,700 watches and 700 wall clocks.
Then, drive to picturesque Lausanne (drive distance: 1 hr), surrounded by vineyard-covered slopes, with lovely Lake Geneva at its feet. Walk the narrow
alleyways of the medieval city center, enjoying the cafes and boutiques that shape the streetscapes. Other sights to see here include Lac Lman, the Olympic
Museum, and Cathedrale de Lausanne.

Day 3 Lausanne
Take our full-day excursion to the charming village of Gruyeres, including tastings of chocolate, cheese and wine, as well as a ride on the
Golden Express train overlooking pretty Lake Geneva. You'll see the Lavaux Vineyards Road, a UNESCO World Heritage site, en route to
the village of Epesse, where youll visit a wine cellar and sample local wine and juice (tour duration: 8.5 hrs).

Day 4 Lausanne Geneva

This morning, drive to sophisticated Geneva (drive distance: 45 min). Get a complete overview of the city on our 2-hour city tour, including a view of United
Nations buildings and international organizations, a panoramic drive, and a ride on the mini-train. Spend the rest of the day exploring on your own.

Day 5 Depart Geneva or extend your stay

We suggest you extend your stay and visit Zermatt. See the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn, said to be the most photographed mountain in the world.
