Funny one today. Lead legs after last night's run; lots
of Betty stops (goodness knows what she's been
eating) and the unexpected uphill cross country due to
road block. Still only 4.5 miles by the time I arrived
home, so spent a few minutes running up and down
our street!

Jane Hylands I'll join u!
Running4CF Fantastic, Janethanks for getting on board. How did you go on
today btw?
Jane Hylands Mmmm - well I clocked in at 49 mins 45 seconds which is amazing
for a 10k and a PB for me but I don't actually believe it and think the course was
short somehow. On the plus side it was the most enjoyable race I've ever done with
amazing scenery and I will go back again (despite the very wet feet from having to
cross the river twice!) 1
Running4CF Nice work Jane! Amazing time. 1
Jane Hylands Don't believe it - it'll never be repeated!

On the 21st of June this year I borrowed Fiona's trainers and joined Donna Ann
Tracy and Clare down at Witton Park. The longest I had ever run before was 3
mins on a treadmill, and I really thought running wasn't for me. This morning I
ran 10k in 1hour 11mins. Not such a quick time I know, but if you had said to
me in June this was possible in 5 months I would have said you were mad!
Thank you.

It's amazing how running can break down barriers, open doors and
make us achieve the unthinkable. That's the joy of sport. Simply by
putting on a pair of running shoes we are able to contribute and get
involved in all aspects of life. Steven's ambition is to run every single
day 365 days consecutive doing 5 miles at a time in order to raise funds
and more importantly awareness of Cystic Fibrosis. It was my pleasure
and privilege to give a little support to Run4CF at the Pickwick evening.
Here's wishing Steve and Gary all the best in the coming year. Well done
Steve. Regards Mark Brown.

Thanks to Tom and his team for supporting this challenge. 182/365 is a very special run as at 2.5 miles we
will have reached the exact halfway point of this challenge. It would be great to get a group of us out to mark
this threshold. Betty and I will be leaving from Whalley Wine Shop at 12.30 on Sunday. The pace will be very
gentle so anyone can take part. We'll be heading up to Calderstones to arrive at Amelia's house for a photo

Couch to 5k - Hi wannabe runners. I am starting a new 10 week course that follows the couch to 5K programme. It is aimed
at non-runners and is a weekly progressive walk run programme, culminating in a 5k run. The first sessions will
commence on Monday 13th April at 6.45 p.m. and continue on a weekly basis. We will be meeting at Foxfeilds Hotel, Lango.
There have been three other couch to 5K course run from this venue and each has raised money for Cystic Fibrosis
Running4CF therefore a minimum donation of 1 is asked, with all proceeds going to 4CF. Everyone is welcome but please
ensure that you wear appropriate clothing, trainer shoes and bring a bottle of water. If you have any concerns, health
issues or just wish to find out more information please message me;Elisabeth Sharples through Facebook. I am a keen
and accomplished runner myself, as well as having completed my Run England Group Leader Qualifications, Level 2 Gym
Instructed and Level 2 Nutrition Certificate. I am a real success story as to the benefits that running can bring to your life
and health. Four years ago I didnt run (or even walk very far) and was overweight. Running has brought a whole new
dimension to my life and enabled me to lose 6 stone in weight. So if I can do it so can you. Looking forward to meeting you!

A massive thanks again to Susan Barsby for choosing Running4CF as the recipient of this year's Clitheroe
Fashion Week donation, by way of her Man Up for Mick campaign in honour of her late husband. Looking
forward to hearing how much was raised at Clitheroe Fashion Weeks fashion show on Wednesday.Thank you
to Lucy and Shirley who thought of donating the money to "Man Up For Mick" As I said in my speech some of
the money will be going to Steven Johnson who is running 5 miles a day for a year to try and raise 10,000
for cystic fibrosis.Steve lives in Whalley and was inspired to do this after watching how CF affects the lives of
his friends and their daughter Amelia who has the condition.By putting himself through this every day he is
hoping to raise awareness and money to fund research.Steve is manning up and obviously all CF sufferes
have to on a daily basis. Please like and share Steve's page running4cf to help his cause. A couple of friends
asked me about the video I used in my speech ,I made it when all the wristbands had sold last year. The
ammount raised was actually 3200 which I donated to "The Sanctuary of Healing"which is a charitable trust
and helps a lot of people not only who suffer from various conditions but improves their general well being
(plus it has a fantastic organic cafe!) xx

Massive thanks to Tony Hughes, biometric specialist and fellow runner who works with Garry Wilkinson at
his treatment room in Whalley. Went to see Tony last night who confirmed Garry's diagnosis re the injury.
I've knackered a muscle in my calf, because I'm a bit bandy (Tony's explanation was a bit more technical) and
he's set me up with an orthotic that has taken the edge off the pain. Officially, I can expect to be out of action
running-wise for 2/3 weeks. However, I see that as a challenge rather than a prognosis and therefore aim to
be running again within a week. Until then... row, row, row your boat, gently through the gym....!

Fiona Elcomb Break it gently to her that we have

357/365. There's been plenty of times over the last year when
Running4CF has felt like a deep Challenge... with a capital C! The
injury-runs; the sub-zero-blizzard-runs; the
10pm-after-a-14-hour-day-runs. But then there's been days like
today, when it's been a pure pleasure! The sun is shining, there's
time to get off-road and you're padding through the fields with
your eyes on the hills and the wind in your hair. What's not to

Monday) totalling 1825 miles. If we raise
10000 by Monday that means that each mile
is worth 5.48! So I will put that in the bucket
on Monday as a contribution for that EXTRA
mile! Well done on encouraging a 50year old
to move!
Dan Balshaw Steven does this mean along with the double

AUGUST 2015
helped us run throughout the winter. The
Running 4CF 100th celebration run coming up
and more people coming along it was growing.
New Year 2015 found that Running 4CF was in
good shape, and Garry Wilkinson raised the bar
to try get 10,000 raised for CF - the challenge
was on. More & more people coming along to
learn how to run, people pushing themselves
onto next running groups & all having fun. We
heard that Amelia had to go to hospital, which
was sad news. Steven again educating us all
how important the awareness of CF was & why
he was doing this challenge. With Amelia in
mind I found myself booking running events for
2015 something I never thought I would do
again. Amelia got better and Steven had to row
because of an injury. I had run & done some
cycling events and running 4CF had now got my
hubby Rick hooked. As well as the big people we
had little Brooke (my Granddaughter) join in as
well. She was only 2 when she started, and we
had her in a Running 4CF t-shirt and the
legendary GW Fitness buff. She loved it as well,
and joined us at the 200th and 300th runs.
Steven you may have finished your 12mth
challenge but what you have created is fantastic.
This years collection of medals for me from
running, cycling & walking events are all down
to you starting Running 4CF. Thank you so much
for letting me be part of this. I have loved
helping & encouraging all the runners new &
old to Running 4CF and finding my running legs.
I have made lots of new friends and we all took
part in raising lots of money whilst making me &
beginner just a year ago and are now a group leader. ..you're amazing and
thankyou so much from all of us johnsons for supporting Steven each Monday
come rain wind hail or shine. You probably aren't aware or the constant boost that
you and your felloe monday runners have given to Steven during some pretty tough
weeks x 3
Pauline Byers Helen i ran before. But had to give up due to ill health. Running4CF
& Garry Wilkinson came at the right time to help me move on. I never thought i
would run again. Thank you two these two amazing men. xx
Elisabeth Sharples I also think it has been a honour to be part of Running 4cf.
Sometimes in life you come across inspiration people Garry Wilkinson and Steven
Johnson. Since I have started running I have met so many inspiration people and
Pauline Byers you are up there. I think that want running is all about. Thank you for
letting me be part of this. 3
Linda Geldard We'll see??? Thank's though! x
Pauline Byers Elisabeth Sharples you are amazing & a honour to have as a friend
& a privilege to work along. We have both come a long way. I support you in you
future & lucky to have you as a friend & mentor. xx 1
Garry Wilkinson This lady Pauline Byers knocks the spots off myself and Steve.
She won't mind me saying as we have become special friends that the illness she
speaks about was cancer. After a fight for her life this lady came to me asking for
yet more challenges and she is all the inspiration I will ever need. May we all
continue to support each other, it will be a better world. 5
Running4CF Well said Garry Wilkinson! 3
Pauline Byers Garry Wilkinson i dont do anything without your support & your
encouragement you have faith in me i didn't no existed you are my faith. 2
Pauline Byers Thank you Bill Reed with the help from Running4CF 2016 will be
