The given table compares and contrasts the various constituents pertaining to

changes in the consumption of 5 different categories of food and drinks. It covers

span of 21 years from 1980 to 2000 with special reference to USA.
A closer view to the diagram highlights the fact that, diet in America became more
fibrous as great amounts of vegetables and fruits were eaten with less proteins, milk
and alcohol but not soft drinks.
More specifically, vegetables were the most popular type of food in both eighteenth
and twentieth as it was 337 pounds in the eighteenth, this figure rose dramatically
to reach 425 pounds in the year of 2000. Fruits, which occupy the second rank of
food consumption over the same period, its figure remained almost constant as it
hovered around 275 pounds.
On the other hands, protein usage showed some distinctive popularity, red meat
usage showed dramatic drop hitting 113 pounds in the 1990 from 126 pounds in
1980. This fall continue in the next decade to reach 112 pounds. in contrast, the
poultry consumption soared gradually from 41 to 67 pounds in 1980 to 2000
respectively.
Drinks also showed some differences, although milk and alcohol entered the
eighteens with same consumption levels of 28 gallons, both declined slightly
reaching 1990 with figures of 26 and 27 in order. These figures continued to go
down in the beginning of the millennium to reach 21 gallons for the milk and 25 for
the alcohol. On the other hands soft drinks continued to be the most popular dink as
it rocketed about 11 gallons in only 10 years as it was 35 in the 1980. That swift
rising slowed down in the next decade to be 49 gallons in the year of 2000.
