NUT-FREE FIRST GRADE

CLASSROOM

Dear Families,
In an effort to keep all of our students healthy and safe, our First Grade classroom will be a nut

free room. Children with a life-threatening nut allergy must not only avoid peanuts, but foods that
contain nut products and oils. I am requesting that ALL students refrain from bringing peanuts or
nut products into our classroom. (Please note that students are still allowed to bring nut products
for lunch into the lunchroom.)
Students will have a snack time in our classroom each day and they are welcome to bring a healthy,
nutritious snack. Please do NOT send any snacks containing or associated with nuts. Also, if you are
purchasing food for any class parties or birthday celebrations, please make sure that the product
ingredients contain no nut products. Read labels carefully to make sure they are nut free and are not
processed in a facility that processes products that contain peanuts/nuts. Please include the
packaging of your treat when you send it to the classroom, so that the label may be double-checked.
There are many snacks and treat items that can be safe for our classroom and our students. On the
back, I have printed a list of items that you can consider as a guide to help you make safe selections.
I thank you for your consideration of the health of all students. Accommodating each others needs
in todays world is a true showing of how a caring community interacts. Please let me know if you have
any further questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Ms. Pauly
