because it is practice!

Each student will have the FIRST 5 minutes of class to finish

the daily launch before moving on to the lesson for the day.
The launch may be old or new curriculum and is graded on
completion.

Notes/Notebook
(20%)

Notes are to be completed daily. Each student will get a daily

check for completing their notes, and a notebook check will
be given at the end of each quarter to grade on organization.

Classwork may be in the form of extra practice, a learning

reflection, group activity, or game.

Assessments (30%)

Homework- The student will receive either an accuracy grade

for each assignment. All homework must be done online unless
the student does not have internet access at home.

Test Review- These assignments are VERY important and will be

graded not only for completion, but also for accuracy. You will
be assigned a review for each topic before taking the
assessment.

LATE Assignments- Late assignments will NOT be taken. Please

hand assignments in ON TIME.
Assessments will be given in the form of a quiz, warm up, ticket out the

door, or test. There will be multiple assessments throughout each topic. Tests

will be announced and can be expected at the end of each topic. If

you are absent for an assessment, it is YOUR responsibility to come
make it up.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS/CLASSROOM RULES- I expect you to:
1. Be on time and prepared for class
You will not be in a position to succeed without the appropriate materials. Each class
meeting, you are expected to have all daily class materials and to be ready to TRY
YOUR BEST! Students are expected to be in their seats ready to begin class when
the bell rings.
2. Respect yourself, others and property in the room
NO BULLYING. We are aiming to create a safe and comfortable classroom, free from
judgment and criticism. I encourage all ideas and questions to be shared. You
cannot learn without asking questions! The space should be respected as well. NO
garbage on the floor and NO writing on desks or other objects in the classroom that
are not yours. NO EXCEPTIONS!
3. Take responsibility for your learning- Dont sit on the side lines, participate!
This is a fast paced course and attendance and punctuality are, not only necessary,
but required. If you require additional help, there will be additional help sessions
once each week. I will do everything I can to facilitate your success, but ultimately
the decision to do well in this class is YOURS. This means pay attention and
participate in class, do all assignments, study, and seek additional help if needed.
4. Work cooperatively with others- Be a team player!
I expect all students to work cooperatively with other members in their group. This
is a classroom in which we all work together to learn.
5. All school rules and policies will be adhered to and enforced in the
classroom- Follow directions the first time.
All school rules are expected to be followed in the classroom. This includes cell
phone usage. All electronic devices must be turned off and stored away during
class. Cell phones may not be used as calculators. No food or drinks allowed in the
classroom besides water (please only bring water that can be closed with a lid).

ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY
In order to learn effectively and efficiently, students must be present in the classroom.
Assignments will be posted daily in the classroom and online.
Absent students are responsible for getting notes, assignments and handouts for
the day(s) that they missed from a classmate or myself. (Classroom lessons will
also be posted on my webpage)
Students have the number of class days they missed to turn in assignments.
Dont forget to turn in the assignment that was due the day you were absent!
Once a student is Tardy from my class three times, their guardian will be
contacted, and the fourth time will result in a referral (This is a school wide
policy).
AVAILABILITY
I will be available any morning with an appointment starting at 8:30 for help on homework or help going over
content that any student may be struggling with. I encourage you to come to me. I will be happy to help you with
any questions and I strongly believe that we can make Math Class FUN!
I believe EVERY student can learn and succeed in math and I am really looking forward to meeting and working with
all of you this year! -Ms. Andrews
