Topic outline:

Literacy: This half term we are learning to listen and enjoy

stories. We will be talking about the stories we have read.
We will be learning to recognise our own names. Please help
your child by writing their name and recognising their name
in the house.
Mathematics: This half term we are starting to recognise
and count numbers to 10. We will be playing with and
exploring shapes. Please help your child by talking about
shapes when out and about. Try counting as you walk up and
down the stairs.
Understanding of the world: This half term we will be
talking about our families and special events. We will look
at the places we live and talk share traditional stories. We
are going to be exploring the changes that are made when
we mix colours. You can help your child by naming different
colours and talking about your family.

Suggested books:
Traditional stories for example Goldilocks and the Three Bears,
Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man, the Three Little
Pigs.
Nursery Rhymes
Check the school library and Bolling Hall library.

Suggested visits:
Visit family and let your child discuss their
time in Nursery.
Visit the park and talk about the things they
can do for example jumping, balancing and
skipping.
Go for a walk and talk about all the different
houses that they can see and who might live in
them.

Topic challenges (you can choose just one):

1. We challenge you to practise counting to 10
every day. Count the stairs or count your
fingers and toes before the bath.
2. We challenge you to draw a picture of you and
your family and name the people in your family.
3. We challenge you to read a bedtime story every
night. Reading with your child is very important
and helps with a good bedtime routine.
