Spinner strongly recommends that you minimize those risks by wearing a bicycle helmet, protective clothing, and using other safety devices, including lights, reflectors, and reflective clothing. Follow all traffic and safety equipment laws. Make sure you and your bicycle are in good shape before hitting the road or trail. If you crash, accept responsibility for your actions. Your safety is your responsibility, so ride responsibly. LLLL Though most Spinner forks are designed for dFroad use, this does not imply that they are designed for all types or areas of off-road use.Our forks are designed for traditional fire road riding, not extreme use. They are not designed for extreme use such as jumping, stunt riding, or specialized downhill riding. Subjecting your Spinner fork to extreme use may damage or break components of the suspension system, which could result in loss of control of the bicycle and possible serious or fatal injury. LONGEVITY: All Spinner forks have a finite useable lifeThe length of time parts will last is dependent on the construction and materials and is also dependent on the maintenance, care, and use or abuse they are subjected to over their lifetimes. REFLECTORS: Reflectors must be mounted for your safety and to comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission laws governing bicycle use on public roads. FRONT WHEEL INSTALLATION: When installing the front wheel, make sure the quick release skewer nut is tightened after the wheel is fully seated into the fork ends and that the quick release cam lever is properly closed as recommended by manufacturers instructions. FRONT WHEEL REMOVAL: Be especially careful whenever the front wheel is removed. The individual fork blades are susceptible to damage without the support of the front hub, Take extra care When mounting the bicycle to car racks which clamp the front fork. ‘Never allow the bike to lean sideways. Likewise, when the front wheel is removed, be careful not to drop the fork or otherwise impact the fork tips, which can be easily damaged. LELLELL If your Spinner fork is possibly damaged or is acting strangely-whether through a crash, normal use, or other means-do not ride the bicycle until a qualified mechanic has inspected the fork. INSTALLATION AND SERVICE: Qualified bicycle mechanics are best prepared to install and service Spinner forks, as they possess the specialized tools and training. An incorrectly installed or maintained fork may fail suddenly and unexpectedly, causing serious or fatal injury to the rider. Simple maintenance, cleaning, and inspection may be undertaken by the owner and is a good way to keep the fork operating well between theservice intervals. LELELLLLLLE Frequent inspection is necessary so that subtle breakdowns such as cracks or damage can be detected early on, possibly preventing a catastrophic failure. The user is responsible for checking all equipment before each ride to determine if something is cracked or broken. If you choose to ignore such inspection and breakage or failure occurs, the responsibility is solely yours. Be safe-- check your equipment before and after each ride. LELLLELLLLLL Follow the maintenance intervals and checks recommended in this Manual. Always use proper shop safety procedures when working on your fork, including using the correct tools and protective eyewear. Only a qualified mechanic must perform certain required maintenance. Note: do not clamp your Spinner fork in a workstand, as this may damage the fork and cause structural failure, which may not be apparent. Structural failure could cause loss of control of the bicycle and serious or fatal injury to the rider. BOLT TORQUE: If any service has been performed on an Spinner fork, all bolt torque specificatons should be carefully observed. Check the Torque Specification Chart and follow the assembly procedures. ELELELLLELLLLELE Make sure to check tire clearance whenever changing tires. To check tire clearance, remove the MCU and/or spring stacks and compress the fork completely. The crown must have at least a 1/4" (6.4mm) clearance above the tire when the fork is fully compressed. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Spinner forks installed as original equipment on new bicycles need no further installation beyond checks associated with new bicycle assembly. Fossibie Tools needed: 4, 5, 6mm hex key wrenches Tape measure Soft face mallet Silicon or teflon fortified grease Headset race setter - Hacksaw - Marker - File - Cutting guide - Star nut driver Torque wrench Procedure as follows: 1. Remove the existing fork from the bicycle. Remove the headset crown race that is pressed to fork crown, and remove the brake assembly. 2. Compare the old fork with the new Spinner forkThe following must be identical, unless changing additional parts such as stems or headset (see 4 below): a. Steerer tube type - threaded or threadless b. Steerer tube diameter - 1", 1-1/8", or 1-1/4" c. Steerer tube length. Under no circumstances should threads be cut onto a threadless steerer. Similarly, no additional threads should be cut into threaded steerers - if more threads are needed, a different fork with a shorter steerer must be used. 3. Press the headset crown race on to the fork crown. Grease and install lower bearing. Slide fork into the head tube. 4, Install the balance of the headset, adjust bearing play and tighten as recommended by its manufacturer. On threaded steerers, make sure that the stem is inserted to the minimum depth per manufacturer's recommendation. If converting from threaded to threadless style (or the reverse)a new headset and handlebar stem are required, Follow the instructions of the headset and stem manufacturer for installation and for cutting steerer tube length. 5. Install the brakes per brake manufacture's instructions. Cantilever brakes can only be used on forks with a cable stop built into the brace. V-style brakes are preferably used on fork models without a brace cable stop, but can be mounted on forks with one if desired. Many Spinner forks are compatible with disc-type brakes and can be identified by their disc brake mounting tabs.Do not install disc brakes or other incompatible brakes on a Spinner fork not designed for their use as loss of braking, fork failure, and other problems may result and cause serious injury to the rider. 6. _ Install the reflector and bracket to the fork brace per manufacturer's instructions. E ALLTAik important safety step must not be omitted. Make sure the quick release skewer nut is tightened after the wheel is fully seated into the fork ends when installing the front wheel and that the quick release cam lever is properly closed as recommended by manufacturer's instruction. 8. Compress the fork with the wheel properly installed. Make sure that there are at least 6.4mm(1/4") of clearance between the top of the tire and underside of the fork crown. Jf there is insufficient clearance the tire could touch the crown; a smaller tire must be used or serious injury could result tothe rider. MAINTENANCE The following are suggested maintenance intervals to keep your Spinner fork operating smoothly. If you ride in especially dirty conditions (rain, mud, etc.), Spinner recommends more frequent maintenance. Iny it: Proper care and maintenance of your fork is necessary for longevity ‘al ap a Tet maintenance will greatly decrease its performance and may ure failure or deterioration. Lack of maintenance may also jeopardize feel safe operation of your fork und will void the warranty. Therefore itis imperative to fallow the instructions preseribed in this manual, Always wear salety glasses when working on Spinner products LUBRICANTS AND CLEANERS FOR MAINTENANCE: - Biodegradable Degreaser - Teflon Fortified Oil - Texaco Marfak MP2 Grease or similar Warning: Do not use lithium based grease hecause it may react with sonic internal parts of the fork greatly reducing the performance of the fork. Before each ride-check the following parts: Front wheel for proper installation. Fork for proper installation and any visible damage. Front brake for proper installation of the caliper and proper lever pull. Brake pads for proper contact with the rim. Headset for proper adjustment. Stem for proper tightness. Do not ride a bicycle that fails any of the above checks. ae Se Soe 6 Approximately every week or after 10 hours of use: 1. Carefully peel the rubber fork boots up, and check underneath for dirt or other contamination. Any contamination beyond a few small specks means the fork needs to be disassembled and cleaned. (Note: UV and ozone break down rubber.) 2. Apply a few drops of Teflon impregnated oil around the seals(see illustration). 3. Reinstall boots and use your body weight to quickly compress the fork. Try compressing the fork completely so that it bottoms out.The action of the fork on both the compression and rebound strokes should be smooth without any sticking or chattering. If the fork does stick or chatter, or if it makes any peculiar sounds such as rattling or knocking, the fork needs to be disassembled and cleaned. 4, Check that adjust unit is torqued to 50~80in-ibs(57.5-92kgfem) and brake pivots (some models only) are torqued to 130.Sin-1bs(150kgf.cm) Approximately every month or after 20 hours of use: 1. Disassemble the fork, as described in the disassembly section. A qualified mechanic with the proper tools must do this procedure. The mechanic should clean the internal parts using a suitable solvent, inspect all internal parts for damage or wear and replace as needed. 2. The mechanic should generously lubricate the internal parts including the springs, washers, guide washers, and other associated parts using non-lithium bicycle bearing type grease (lithium can damagethe seals). 3. The mechanic should check the bushing play by trying to wiggle the upper half of the fork in relation to the lower sliding portion of the fork. (See illustration). Spinner uses bushings that are extremely durable and are installed for the life of the fork. While not replaceable, the bushings have a long service life and should last for years baring the most extreme usage. DISASSEMBLY SPRING ADJUSTMENTS AND TUNING Your Spinner fork can be easily adjusted according to rider weight, as well as for 7 different riding styles and types of terrain. To maximize your comfort and the action of the fork, follow the spring rate diagram. See the disassembly section for information on removing and installing springs. Spring Rate Adjustment: Depending on the fork model and on other factors, the springs in your Spinner fork are either micro cellular urethane (MCU) cylinders, metals coils, or a combination of MCU and metal coils. The stiffness of the springs (spring rate) determines the over-all force required to compress the fork. Both MCUs and coils are available from Spinner dealers in three different spring rates -- soft, medium, and stiff. Generally lighter riders and less aggressive riders should use softer springs, while larger and more aggressive riders should use stiffer springs. SPRING SELECTION: the fork should entirely compress (bottom out) during hard riding over very large bumps. Note: If the fork bottoms out frequently while riding, especially on smaller bumps, stiffer springs are required. If the fork never bottoms out while riding, softer springs should be installed. SPRING RATE TABLE Body Size Rider Style Spring Type Spring Color EELELELELEL Non Aggressive Soft Springs Brown Moderately Aggressive | Medium Springs | Natural color Large Build Aggressive Stiff Springs Red Pre-load Adjustment (not applicable to all models): Your Spinner fork may have two adjustment knobs on the top of crown. These knobs can | {i,"ockwise to sifien be used to adjust the pre-load on the springs. Pre-load determines: - The compression of the fork when rider sits on the bike. - The amount of force required before the fork begins compressing when riding. The easiest way to measure sag is to be a zip tie around one stanchion and sit on the bicycle in the normal riding position. Then measure the distance the zip tie has moved up the stanchion fii the wiper after the rider has gotten off the bicycle, To optimize pre-load, the fork should compress (sag) between 6 and 10mm when the rider is seated on the bike. Both knobs should be adjusted identically, so that the pre-load is the same in both legs. Note: Changing pre-load does not affect the spring rate,-that is the overall force required to compress the fork. Spring rate is adjusted by replacing the springs as described above. If turning the adjuster knobs does not set sag to the desired setting, then the fork MCU and/or spring stack will need to be modified. Be sure to make only one change at a time to accurately tune the fork. Drastic changes may make tuning impossible. 8 Grind 2 320F (26° 320SDS 320F SDS ze CaP g 5 2 | TOP _CAP ATC266-09 | ATC266-03_ | ATC266-09 | ATC266-09 | ATC266-09 | ATC266-09 AORVS~12 4| TOP CAP ATC323-49 5 | SPACER ACS168-7355} AORV5~12 AORVS~12 AORV5~12 ATC323-48 | ATC323-49 | ATC323-49 | ATC323-49 | ATC323-49 ACS168-7364] ACS168-7355| ACS168-7364| ACS266-27__| ACS266-27 ISOLATOR TUBE AEL168-78 | AEL168-78 | AEL168-78 | AEL 168-78 =. a ASR320-7815| ASR320-7815| ASR320-7615| ASR320-7815| ASR266-08A | ASR266-28A, CUSHION, AEL168-74 | AEL168-74 | AEL168-74 | AEL168-74 | AEL266-20A | AFL 266-204 SPRING GUIDE ANW168-79__| ANW168-79 | ANW166-73__| ANW168-79 | ANW266-13__| ANW266-13 10] COMPRESSION ROD | ACS320-23.
