Cale Ill, Chairman Katie Hoer recently completed an internship with the Port Warwick Foundation, a Gary Nachman, Vice Chairman nonprofit $01 (c) (3) organization, dedicated to bringing arts and music to the Bobby Freeman, Treasurer Virginia Peninsula. Bert Bateman Mary Blalock ‘After my initial meeting with Katie to discuss the needs associated with John Cale ‘organizing and producing the Tenth Annual Port Warwick Art & Sculpture Mare Darnel! Festival as well as the Summer Concert Series, I was quickly impressed with her eee professional appearance and demeanor. She came prepared to listen, take notes ae and then move forward with assignments such as keeping the arts festival ‘naacrd Worers Facebook page active with regular posts, updating artist forms, spreadsheets and LeMay Woodland keeping track of the artists online applications as well as volunteer online Jesse Young recruitment. What really impressed me about Katie is that she didn’t just do the assigned tasks, but she took initiative, assessed the needs, made recommendations and took on the role as leader and problem solver. She worked on volunteer recruitment and ‘managed volunteers in all capacities, including communication to assignment of Jobs, seeking out new volunteers, and training, Another large aspect of bringing this fine arts festival to fruition is the artists themselves. There were 70 participating artists. Katie corresponded with them regularly, produced and ‘maintained spreadsheets, worked on assignment of booth spots, and other logistical needs, as well as featuring artists on the Facebook page Leadership, taking e, enthusiastic, hardworking, professional, is just some of Katie’s many fine qualities. Not to mention that everyone from the artists, volunteers and the Port Warwick Foundation Board of Directors were impressed ‘with Katie's confidence and the ease in which she took part in committee A ‘meetings, VIP reception and the artist awards ceremony.
