Important Dates

What we are learning this month in 2nd Grade

September 4th Half Day

School is out at 12:30

Reading: We learning about 1st and 3rd person point of views in

various stories. We are also learning about table of contents,
glossaries, headings, and subheading in a text. We will start reading a
weekly story and taking a comprehension test each week on it.

September 7th No School

Box Tops
Help our school raise money by
sending in box tops!!

Writing: We are continuing to learn about narratives. We are learning

how to write 5 sentence stories with capital letters, punctuation, finger
spacing, and neat handwriting. We are also practicing the writing
process. We will be reviewing the different types of sentences.
Math: We are starting a new unit on measurement. We will also be
practicing double digit addition throughout the month as well.
Language: We will be learning about prefixes and suffixes. We will
be learning about compound words. We will also be practicing
identifying common and proper nouns, action and linking verbs, and
adjectives.
7 Habits of Happy Kids: This month we will be learning about habit 3
put first things first, habit 4 think win-win, habit 5 seek first to
understand, then to be understood, habit 6 synergize, and habit 7
sharpen the saw
