WHAT IS IMPACT?

IMPACT
TEST

According to ASTM impact test specifically refers to

behavior of metals when subjected

to a single resultant

force of multi-stress associated with a notch, with

high

rates of charge an application of and in some cases with

high or low temperatures.

TERMINOLOGY

IMPACT
TEST

Energy of impact.- Is the energy required to break a piece

subjected to a shock load as in an impact test.
Tenacity.- Is the total energy absorbed by a material before
reaching the breaking point under impact conditions, due
to accumulation of dislocations.
Resilience.- It is called the resiliency of a material
deformation energy that can be recovered when a
deformed body ceases causing the deformation effect.

PROCEDURE

Obtain standardized test pieces.

Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment.

Then, without installing any specimen rise and snap the pendulum, to be
released later.

The specimen is installed on braces.

Calculating the energy invested in the failure of the specimen being

tested.

Repeat steps (c) and (d) for the other specimens.
